Foot Update!

So like I said yesterday, I had several updates I wanted to post and this is my final one :) Probably until Wednesday because that's when I have my appointment with my surgeon! Anyways my foot/ankle is doing great! I am still walking/sleeping and doing everything in my walking boot, but hopefully Wednesday I get the OK to walk AND sleep without the boot! We will see! But what I really want to know is if I can start to ride again! It'd be in the boot without stirrups of course, but hey I'll take it! Anyways I have been going to pt 3x a week and I am getting much stronger! I am very grateful for my amazing pt Nancy, she is fabulous! She was actually physical therapist of the year in 2012 :) I have been biking 3 miles and doing all sorts of range of motion, therabands, woobleboards and weight exercises, it's going really well so I'm hoping Dr. Parekh will be happy with the progress!

It's been over 9 weeks post op and here's a picture of my foot! Looks much better!

Winter?

So last week we got a splash of spring and winter! One day it was 65 and sunny the next it was snowing! Here are some pictures of the snow! (Thankfully its all melted, as you can see in my last post!)

Lake Time!

Hey Everyone! Today was beautiful today so Eric and I decided to take the pups to the Lake! Here are some pictures :)

Fernando is Cantering!!

Hey everyone!! Sorry it has taken me so long to update! School, pt and life in general has been CRAZY! I know I use this excuse every time, but really my life is crazy! So anyway y'all know Fern had his ultrasound to see if he can start cantering and then work up to jumping again...and he is!!! :) The only sad thing is that he probably won't ever be able to show above 3' anymore, that way he stays sound longer and his joints don't take a beating! But we kind of expected that anyway... Unfortunately, this means we are definitely going to have to lease him or sell him :( I love him so much, but he is no where ready for that, so I still have my munchkin for a while!! We have a child rider who will be ready to move up to the children's hunters at C shows (so it's only 2'9) and my trainer wants her to lease him for the summer, so that would be awesome because he would get back to showing (which he loves) and he will stay in the barn :) Here's Fern getting his ultrasound!

he looks grumpy, but he wasn't haha he was so drugged he didn't know what was happening

I also wanted to show you a picture that describes mine and Eric's relationship perfectly! This was from when his family was visiting over Christmas break!

As you can see we are both passed out on one another! haha this is us all the time with Paisley and/or Bentley cuddled up with us! I love our little family!

I also have a couple more blogs I want to post, but right now I have to get back to studying! I will try to upload them sometime before Saturday!

Update 8 Weeks Post Op

Hey Everyone!
So I just wanted to update you all with how my foot/ankle has been feeling. I am still in a walking boot 24/7 except when I shower and do my PT exercises. Right now I am doing some simple range of motion exercises and trying to gain more control with my toes. On top of that, my left hip is all messed up from being non weight bearing (this happened with the first surgery too) so I am working with therabands to strengthen that. I still hardly have any feeling in my foot/ankle area, however, the past couple of days I am starting to feel my toes a little bit! :) I go to PT 3x a week and am still not allowed to ride. I go back to my surgeon on the 27th to hopefully get the okay to start walking without my walking boot! (and maybe start riding with the boot again!) Here is a picture of my incision, its a little over 5 inches long to give you some perspective

As you can see, I still have some scabbing, but besides that the incision looks great!

On other news, my friend rode Jagger last week and he was good, I can't wait to get back on him and whip him into shape though! He was pretty stubborn and was wayyy on his forehand and hanging off the draw reins! Miranda was a champ though and by the end of it he seemed to work out of it!

Now Fern :) He is being good...apparently... I have yet to see Bob ride him, because of our schedules not lining up! BUT he is still super excited and rears and bucks haha but really who can blame him, he is only able to walk and trot and no turn out AND it has been absolutely beautiful out! BUT today at 9am (so less than an hour and a half) he gets his (hopefully) final ultrasound which will (hopefully) give him the okay to start cantering and work up to jumping! That will definitely calm him down, because once fern can move forward he calms down :)

That's all for now!

Horse Fight

haha there was no horse fight, but certainly looks like it! Here is a pic of what Jagger looks like right now...

As you can see, his face is only half clipped... Everything else is clipped and has been for a few days now, but he refuses to let me do anything more on his face!! So I had to back down, it was getting to a point where I was going to get hurt (I'm in my walking boot, super easy to lose my balance!) so Sandy said she or Bob will finish his face for me, thank goodness!! I swear he was laughing at me, as you can see in the third pic! I still love him though! And of course I had to add a picture of Fern!! (He's next on the make over list)

Frustrated!

So today was definitely frustrating to say the least. So I woke up when Eric woke up for work this morning so that I could get a jump start on my piles of homework. That way I had time to go to my doctors appointment and finish clipping Jagger... So I spent numerous hours on homework, but was able to finish a majority of it before my appointment. On one of my homework assignments it's made on a googledoc. The thing with this assignment is that we have to do it in a "google drive" so that we are able to work in groups. I am in a group with two other people who are incredibly nice, but one of the kids in it is a perfectionist/"its his way or the highway" kind of person. So anyways I spent about 3 hours on this assignment so that my other members didn't need to do much else on the document. However, I did know that the one kid would possibly add things to my answers, because thats how he is. Well I am currently watching him delete most of my answers and am watching him reword my answers so my teacher thinks hes the one who did all of the work! I don't mind you adding more to my answers, but don't freaking delete everything and take all of the credit! I spent hours on this stuff!! UGH!

So anyways I spent so much time on homework, but finally got it done (except watching the kid rework everything right now) and went to my doctors appointment expecting to get the okay to walk and ride in my boot (that's how it was last time). Well I got the okay to walk, but not to ride :( I am so sad! I'm stressed up the wazoo and need to ride! So anyways I have to go to pt for 3x a week for 6 weeks and then start slowly going to 2x a week, then a month 4x a week working out with 1x a week of pt and then pt every other week.... I know confusing, probably lost you all!

So I go back to my surgeon in 4 weeks and he might give me the okay to ride, he said there are too many unknowns... UGH! so then I go to the barn and I attempt to finish clipping Jagger, but didn't totally finish, I still have some of his legs and face to do plus touchups... I wanted to finish, but my foot was killing me so I had to leave..

I'm just frustrated with everything right now! But in other news, I am going to attempt to clip ferns neck/chest tomorrow then finish Jagger Friday or Sunday... But on Saturday I am going to the Faerrington to check out their wedding venues for Christine and Richard's wedding! YAY!

Update!

Hey All!
So I just wanted to apologize for the lack in posts! I can see by the views I have been getting a lot of views from all over the world which is awesome! I really appreciate the support people have been sending me and am incredibly thankful for sharing related and personal stories!

So I have been extremely busy now that school has started. It is going to be one hard semester!   I want to start off by saying I still have pain at night, but Tylenol is usually enough to let me get a decent sleep, except for last night when I awoke in the middle of the night and my foot had excruciating pain emitting from near my toes, it's most likely still the nerves and so I will have spouts of that for a long time, but at least it's not the constant horrific pain I had before. My foot turns purple and get throbbing if it's not raised still, but it's tolerable enough that I can get through school okay...

Speaking of school, it is absolutely CRAZY! So much homework and group work (which I absolutely despise!)... But the worst thing is crutching from my classes and to my last class it's all up hill so by the time I actually get to the class I am shaking because my arm and legs hurt so badly.

I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday with my surgeon and am hoping I get the okay to start walking and doing pt again...

And on other news I have been busy because MY OLDER SISTER GOT ENGAGED!! :) We are busy planning her wedding so that's been another thing!

Well I am heading off to bed (early I know) but I am exhausted! Bye! :)

First Day of Class

So... I am currently in between my first class and second, I am so grateful they are in the same room... I am literally dying! My first class was at 8am and I crutch about a block to it, downhill.. and I was DYING! My arms are jello and my foot is killing me. On top of that the brick walkways are not even at all so I have almost wiped out 85 million times! My last class starts at 11am and that is near my disability parking so I pretty much have to walk the same way I came to this class which means ALL uphill! But once I make it I will be right near the car! Yay!

So a little update on my foot, I have not been sleeping well... I have so much nerve damage that I am in so much pain it is not even funny, I have a doctors appointment on Monday so I will hopefully have more answers then!

Update!

Hey All!
So just an update about my doctors appt with my surgeon today! Everything is going great! There was a lot of bleeding after surgery so my staples were being pulled by the dried blood so once they took off my cast from surgery I immediately felt better! I got my staples out and it hurt but since there is so much nerve damage it felt a little better this time around because I couldn't feel some of the staples being pulled out ;) There were probably 30 stitches total again, it was hard to tell but here are pictures of it!

There was hardly any swelling and bruising so it was great! I can't thank my surgeon and his team enough for taking great care of me! I was then allowed to pick a color for my cast and I decided pink, obviously! :) And its so short and cute and the best part is that it weighs like nothing compared to my other cast!

I am so happy with how cute it is! :) I also am excited that I get it off on the 14th and go into a walking boot... So once I get in my walking boot I have to stay completely off of my foot for two weeks, so crutches still, then hopefully I will get the okay to start walking again after that! I also went to school today and got a disability parking pass until March 1st which is awesome! haha I will say though my foot still hurts a little but I am hoping to be completely off my meds starting tonight ;)

Pain, Pain and Oh Yeah More Pain

So it's safe to say my wish of getting off of vicodin will not be happening until at least Thursday... I am easily in the most pain I have ever been in... It feels like my staples are caught on the bandage inside my cast and it is pulling and irritating them. It feels like someone is sticking eighty billion needles in me, it hurts so badly that I am sick to my stomach, it is not fun! This problem happened to me last time, but I was able to get in the day of and they fixed things. Unfortunately, I couldn't get in any earlier than my scheduled appt (tomorrow at 9:45am) due to the holidays and this pain has been going on since Sat and is steadily getting worse... I can't wait to get some relief tomorrow! Anyways enough about the pain, I forgot to show you all the beautiful flowers my sister Jess and Eric got me :) It helps decorate the guest room that I am staying in (because it is downstairs and my room is upstairs)...
